Chief Executive Officer

Victoria Began (Vicki) is the Chief Executive Officer of the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation (SCAHC). In this role, Vicki looks after, coordinates, manages, and leads a professional team that provides experience covering all aspects of the organization. Prior to the CEO assignment, she was SCAHC’s CNO, providing progressive leadership and clinical experience in nursing and hospital administration. She has extensive experience in neonatal, women’s and children’s health as well as emergency services.

Vicki is a passionate champion of patient experience, care, quality, and safety. She is known for her creativity and exceptional ability to partner and problem solve with physicians, peer executives, and hospital leaders in strategic planning, operations, facilities planning, construction, program development-evaluation, work resign initiatives, clinical computer systems, and leadership development.

A big believer in patient-centric care, Vicki supports the mission, vision, and values of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and its people.

Vicki is a qualified Registered Nurse and holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration and Management Specialization from University of Phoenix.

Vicki is no stranger to healthcare administration. After 25 years combined as a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Patient Care Manager, and Vice President of Women, Children’s and Emergency Services for the University Medical Center, she has learned the importance of patient-centric care. Vicki is a key facilitator that helps our leaders and patients come together to provide guidance and value to the community by putting the “patient in the center.”

Drawing on her years of experience in administration and patient care management, Vicki now focuses mainly on building a strong leadership team and patient-centric care for our patients and their families. She is very passionate about our patients, the people she serves, and the goals of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.
