Mrs. Ben worked for Indian Health Service (IHS) for 46 years in health care management while also pursuing higher education. She received her Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University and a Master in Public Health from the University of Hawaii. Mrs. Ben took on various assignments at several hospitals, including Administrative Officer in San Carlos. She was later named the first Apache Chief Executive Officer at the IHS San Carlos Service Unit. Mrs. Ben joined the Board of Directors in 2016, and serves as Secretary-Treasurer.
