Maxine Montoya is a San Carlos Apache Tribal member and also from Santa Ana Pueblo in New Mexico. She began her career in office management and later transitioned into the field of healthcare, graduating with honors from Pima Medical Institute earning a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration. Currently, Maxine is pursuing Board Governance certification and is a member of the Association for Healthcare Professionals. As the Board Administrator, she navigates a rewarding yet challenging position that encompasses board governance, hospital, federal, and tribal regulations, as well as diverse legal research for the organization. This role demands collaboration and vital communication both with Executive Leadership and Board of Directors in order to uphold the standards of a premier PL 93-638 hospital dedicated to serving the San Carlos Apache community.
