Chief Medical Officer

Dr. James Michael Darragh was appointed Chief Medical Officer for the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation in 2019. Dr. Darragh began his medical career in Internal Medicine in 1985; practicing as an Attending for the Internal Medicine Ward and serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine for the University of Arizona. He also served as Director of Medical Consult Service providing expertise to other specialist and served as Co-Director for 3rd year medical students Clerkship. Dr. Darragh has received the following certifications: National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Internal Medicine and Active Medical Licensure; he is also a professional member of the American College of Physicians. A true believer in the deliverance of excellent patient care, Dr. Darragh has been the recipient of prestigious awards and honors such as: Castel Connolly Top Doctors (2016, 2017), Press Ganey 99th% Patient Satisfaction, Patient Choice Award (1991, 2003) at the University Medical Center, Observer Newspaper’s Humanitarian of the Year Award for work with patients with AIDS (1991), and Clinical Honors in Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, and Pediatrics at Wayne State University of Medicine.

Dr. Darragh received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Albion College, Albion, MC. He earned his Medical Degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, MI, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Tucson Hospitals Medical Education Program, Inc., Tucson, Az.
