About Anita Alaniz
CHIEF NURSING OFFICER
Dr. Anita Alaniz is the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), at San Carlos Apache Health Care Corporation (SCAHC). She has been at SCAHC since September 2015, as Director of Nursing and Interim Chief Nursing Officer before being selected as CNO. Anita worked for the San Carlos Apache Tribe; Department Health and Human Services as program manager and Nurse Practitioner in the Maternal Child Health Program since 2012.
Prior to working for the San Carlos Apache Tribe and Healthcare Corporation she worked at the Gila River Healthcare Corporation on the Ak-Chin reservation in the Outpatient Department for Family Practice. Anita worked independently with resource and support from Sacaton and Komatke clinics on Gila River Reservation. She worked for ten years in the community of Guadalupe AZ for the nonprofit clinic Las Fuentes Clinic, as a provider for Women’s Health, Ob-Gyn, and Family Practice. Past employment includes Pinal County Division of Public Health with Well Women, Family Planning, and STD clinics.
Dr. Alaniz started her nursing career in 1981 and has experience in Med-Surgical, Critical Care, Emergency Room, and Community Health nursing. She served as a Captain in the Army Nurse corp. from 1995 to 2005. She believes that you never stop learning and has continued her education throughout her nursing career. She achieved her Master of Science in Nursing and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in 1999 and then as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2001 at University of Phoenix. In 2015, she completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Arizona State University.
